Who We Are

SilentAuction.org is a free educational resource built and maintained by a team with nearly 30 years of hands-on experience working alongside nonprofits of all shapes and sizes — from small community PTAs and local charities to regional healthcare foundations and national advocacy organizations.

Over those decades, we’ve seen firsthand how a well-run silent auction can transform a nonprofit’s ability to fund its programs, serve its community, and grow its donor base. We’ve also seen how much time, energy, and money organizations waste trying to piece together that knowledge on their own — often making costly mistakes that the right information could have prevented.

SilentAuction.org exists to close that gap. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned — every best practice, every hard-won lesson, every tool that actually works — and made it freely available to anyone who needs it.

Our Mission

Nonprofits don’t exist to run auctions. They exist to serve communities, protect the environment, support education, advance health, advocate for those without a voice, and countless other vital purposes. Silent auctions are simply a means to an end — a proven, community-building way to raise the funds that make those missions possible.

Our mission at SilentAuction.org is to make sure that the auction is never the obstacle. We believe that every nonprofit — no matter how small, how new, or how under-resourced — deserves access to the same quality of guidance that larger, better-funded organizations take for granted.

When you run a more successful silent auction, you raise more money. When you raise more money, you do more good. It’s that simple. And that’s why we do this.

Nearly 30 Years of Nonprofit Experience

The team behind SilentAuction.org has spent nearly three decades working in and alongside the nonprofit sector. That experience spans organizations of every size — from first-year charities with volunteer-only teams to established nonprofits with professional development staff and six-figure fundraising goals.

We’ve helped plan and execute hundreds of silent auction events. We’ve seen technology transform the industry — from hand-written bid sheets and cash-only checkout to mobile bidding apps, contactless payments, and virtual auctions. We’ve navigated the shift to online fundraising and helped organizations adapt when in-person events weren’t possible.

Through all of it, the fundamentals have never changed: know your audience, make it easy to bid, curate items people actually want, and follow up with donors like they matter — because they do.

That accumulated knowledge is what powers SilentAuction.org. Every article, guide, and recommendation on this site draws on real experience. We’re not summarizing textbooks — we’re sharing what we’ve actually learned.
